Le Tigre on Tour with Out Hud, Lesbians on Ecstacy
[Posted Wednesday, October 8th, 2003 04:00:00 Pitchfork Central Time]
Siegfried and Roy weren't the first to learn what happens when you fuck with a pissed-off white tigress. Mothers, lock away your daughters-- because the androgynized womyn of Le Tigre will unleash their battery-op dixco jams on the East Coast, Canada, and Cleveland this November. Mr. Lady's finest will likely have lots to say on the state of world affairs (Bush), feminist issues (bush!), and the latest pomo hairstyles (butch), so count on a show that harnesses the power of electric pink and gets even the angriest NARAL volunteer shakin' that azz.
Although band members Kathleen Hanna, J.D. Samson, and Johanna Fateman are currently not working on new Le Tigre material (favoring individual projects instead), their 1999 self-titled debut and 2001's Feminist Sweepstakes still provide plenty of ammunition for a killer live show with performance art elements and songs touching on still-relevant topics like police brutality, pop misogyny, and Rudolph Giuliani. Hell, "Hot Topic" could be the "It's The End Of The World As We Know It" (or "We Didn't Start the Fire") of the 2000's! Le Tigre will be joined by Sacramento funk-art rockers (fart rockers?) Out Hud on three East Coast dates and Montreal softball players-cum-electroclashers Lesbians on Ecstacy in Canada. Soooo many reasons why that last sentence is the dirtiest ever. My my concert dates (yr yr stuttering):
