Kaiser Chiefs Extend Tour, Cancel Shows

Far be it from the Kaiser Chiefs to deviate from American stereotypes of the English. On the contrary, the young Brits fit right into them: polite, and too cool for school. According to their website's special U.S. version (aww), they're canceling two East Coast shows as a result of "the incredible reaction to our album in the UK." And exactly what kind of "incredible reaction" justifies this break in plans? Well, their debut album, Employment, just went platinum. In the British recording industry this only means 300,000 copies sold, unlike an American platinum record, but it's still disturbingly huge. We mean that in a nice way.

Though there's no indication as to just how those two valuable days will now be spent, neglected kids in Philadelphia and Richmond can console themselves that at least the Chiefs had the good sense not to pull an Axl and simply not tell anybody. See? Polite. They do promise to hit those cities sometime in the near future, but for now it might be easier to pack up and head to one of the other thousand shows they're playing this summer. Hello, Cleveland!
