Archer Prewitt and The M's Launch Tour Tonight

If he weren't so ineffably cool, and if his music didn't continue to be so damned durable, it would be pretty easy to cultivate a strong dislike for Archer Prewitt.

Whether administering his magic touch to the Coctails and the Sea and Cake, or his own well-crafted solo albums, Prewitt has become the kind of pop tunesmith par excellence that aspiring songwriters wet-dream about. And he's an accomplished comic book artist and illustrator. We bet he's a skilled welder, talented pastry chef, and master mechanical bull rider, too.

OK, that might be stretching it a bit. But you can count on Prewitt to do what he does best when he starts a Midwest and West Coast tour tonight in Springfield, Missouri. On all of the dates except for Vancouver he will be supported by fellow Chicagoans the M's, who are gearing up to release their sophomore album Future Women February 21 on their new label Polyvinyl.

Don't hate him because he's beautiful:

In March, Prewitt will hook up with his Sea and Cake cohort Sam Prekop for a stint opening for several dates on Stereolab's American tour. The whole gang will sit around the campfire telling stories of the good ol' days when post-rock was the future. Ha! How young and naïve we were then.
