Dresden Dolls Hit the Road and the Cinema

Well shave my eyebrows and call me Whitey! If MySpace Vaudevillians the Dresden Dolls didn't hit your town this spring, the cabaret-punk duo of singer/pianist/lyricist Amanda Palmer and drummer Brian Viglione is headed your way this summer. Jeez, we hope they have enough makeup.

Beginning on Tuesday in Washington, DC, the goth lovebirds will hit the road with Pfork whipping boys Panic! At the Disco (who are also fond of makeup) before dropping anchor at Lollapalooza and then some European fests in August. They're touring in support of their latest album, Yes, Virginia, out on Roadrunner Records.

But the Dresden Dolls don't like to do anything in a traditional manner, least of all go on tour. So their North American trek will be two-part, the first being the shows with Panic! At the Disco, as listed above.

Concurrently, the band will present "FUCK THE BACK ROW!", "a night of short films and Dadaist vaudeville" in various cities along the way. The events will consist of screenings of fan-created short films, performances by local artists and musicians, and, to finish things off, a solo show by Amanda Palmer, "singing songs culled from popular and not-so-popular film soundtracks."

Sounds fucking insane. And fucking awesome.
