Clap Your Hands Say Yeah Cancel Shows

Alas, all that constant Byrne-ian whine-singing has finally caught up with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah's Alec Ounsworth. The band has been forced to cancel four shows in Australia and Japan due to its frontman's vocal chord problems.

On Thursday, a message on the band's website stated, "Unfortunately over the course of our recent European tour Alec's voice started to give out on him, and in order to avoid any permanent damage to his vocal chords he's going to have to take some time off of touring."

Canceled shows:

07-20 Melbourne, Austalia - Hi Fi Bar
07-22 Sydney, Australia - Rebel Rebel
07-23 Byron Bay, Australia - Splendour in the Grass
07-29 Niigata, Japan - Fuji Rock Festival

A band called Butterfingers from Brisbane, Australia will be taking CYHSY's place at the Splendour in the Grass festival. Don't screw up your big break, guys!

The band will return to the stage for a few shows in August:

08-25 Saint-Cloud, France - Rock en Seine
08-25 Reading, England - Reading Festival
08-26 Leeds, England - Leeds Festival
09-28 New York, NY - Central Park Summerstage
