How To

How to use the Online Report forms

(note: questions which are displayed on the report form will be highlighted in green)

General information:
To fill out the form, click in the box you wish to enter data in and just type it in.  If the question asks for you to choose something (the question will have numerous choices beneath it, each with a small circle next to it), then click on the circle next to the best answer for the question.  Unless told otherwise, you may only choose one answer to this question.

When you have completely finished filling out the form and no questions are left blank, you can click on the button which is labeled "submit" and send it in to our CoCoRaHS Volunteers.  They will analyze the data and then post it under the Reports section of the web page.

If you find that you have entered some data incorrectly any time before you submit the form, you can either go back and change it, or click the button labeled "Reset".  The Reset button will completely clear your ENTIRE form and it will go back to the way it was before you entered anything.

New Snow Amount     -The depth of new snow that fell in the past 24 hours on your snowboard, measured to the nearest tenth of an inch. If the snow depth was less than 0.1 inch then enter T in the field. If melting has occurred during the past 24 hours, record the maximum depth before melting if possible. If the snow has been blowing and drifting, try to get a good estimate of the depth.

Total Depth of Snow on Ground     -Enter the total amount of snow on the ground (both new and old snow), measured to the nearest 0.5 inch. You may need to take several measurements to get this data. Be careful not to measure the space taken up by grass if the snow is sitting on top of the grass.

Core Precipitation    -This is the amount of water present in a core sample of the new snow on your snowboard. Push your empty 4 inch rain gauge straight down onto your snowboard and carefully slide it off to get a good core measurement. If the amount is less than 0.01 inches then enter T in the field.
