From the dawn of time, there have been winners and losers. And it has been the sole responsibility of those who win, to point out to the loser just how much they suck.
Essentially, the format goes like this: "YOU FAIL IT."

A more severe form is known as epic fail. Given that overuse of the word "epic" originated from World of Warcraft, the fact that these two words often appear together implies that the WoW community may also have been where abuse of the word "fail" began as well.
Of all the mutilations of the English language that have surfaced on the Internet, the abuse of the word "fail" would surely count as one of the very worst. The word "fail" was originally a verb, so grammatically correct use would be "I am worried that I am going to fail the test." However, users of the World of Warcraft forums have begun using it as a noun, referring to something as being "full of fail." This usage is entirely grammatically incorrect.
The meme originates in the arcade game Blazing Star.

Denial is also a river
When someone is accused (justly accused, that is) of some failure, they will almost certainly try to deny it in some way. Perhaps they might say that it was misinterpreted, taken out of context, or some such shit. Even more lulzy is when they try to justify their phailure in some way, claiming it was a joke or something equally as fucking stupid.
More horrific than any of these, though, are the now-common attempts by internet celebrities to make themselves impervious to criticism and the pointing-out of their fail by making fun of themselves first. Take a look at this failure here, for instance: rhjunior
The whole thing has the brown smell of BAWWWWWWWWWing about it. But wait, what's that? He's already described himself as 'fat', a 'jackass', and 'totally fucking useless'? Well, surely any attempt to illustrate his fail would be futile!
Disregard that last bit. Thinking like that is more fail than fail, and not in the good way. Another example of it could be the SomethingAwful 'goons' who, having fabricated an image of themselves as fat, ugly, smelly people, are thus clearly immune from further criticism...apart, of course, from it being pointed out that they PAID IRL MONIES to be branded with this image.
