Moon |
|
Moon is an intense sci-fi, action-adventure title for Nintendo DS. Moon places gamers on the cold lunar surface in the year 2058. Researchers of the newly established Lunar Base Alpha are shocked when they discover a sealed, alien hatch during construction of a new lunar base, but it's a shock that soon pales in comparison to what they find beyond the hatch.

The Onion (A.V. Club)
The ease of play, clever design, and memorable plot make this a very successful lunar mission.

Worth Playing
Moon is easily the most fun I've had on the DS in over a year.
86
Cheat Code Central
Moon is by no means perfect; from the lack of variety in enemy types to the repetitive nature of the core gameplay and terrain types, there is room for improvement.
85
Kombo
Moon will come as a surprise to those that aren't familiar with the quality work that Renegade Kid did with Dementium: The Ward on the DS. It's becoming clear that this is a developer that has a solid grasp on the DS hardware and that they're very interested in pushing the DS to its limits while offering a good gameplay experience at the same time.
85
IGN
Its technical offering, story, design, style, and control are all amazingly well done.
83
GamingTrend
If you're looking for a cool, atmospheric shooter for your DS, I definitely recommend Moon.

Gamer 2.0
Moon is a good start at something great, and while it’s not quite at the level of first-person console games, this game is worth your attention because it’s damn close.
80
Gamervision
The game would be much better and more complete with some kind of a competitive experience. Even without multiplayer, Moon is still worth trying out, and hopefully a sequel will polish up the remaining faults and take another small step towards the creation of the definitive DS FPS. It might not be Halo for the DS, but it’s definitely one giant leap towards that sort of an experience.

AtomicGamer
Moon is a well-made 3D action/adventure game which is something the DS could definitely use more of.
80
G4 TV
The game wouldn't make it on the PSP, or other more powerful machines, but you'll be hard pressed to find a better recent shooter on the DS.
80
Da Gameboyz
Moon really is a good game for the Nintendo DS. With an interesting story, amazing graphics, solid gameplay, and a nice mix of things to do, it is only the short length and repeated enemies that brings the overall score down a notch or so.

NintendoWorldReport
Moon is a great first person shooter for the DS, despite some unfortunate design decisions. It's up there with Metroid Prime Hunters and Call of Duty 4. Well, aside from the timed driving.
80
Pocket Gamer UK
Moon isn't revolutionary by any means but the overall quality of the graphics and action means this is a satisfying game that affirms the viability of the shooter genre, even on a portable.
78
Extreme Gamer
Moon is a refreshing, solid shooter for the Nintendo DS that will please all the gamers who have been waiting for the next Metriod Prime to come around.
75
Nintendo Power
Another stunning technical achievement. [Holiday 2008, p.84]
73
GameZone
Moon is a solid first-person shooter, especially considering it’s on DS, but it certainly has its fair share of shortcomings and annoyances.
70
Thunderbolt
Moon executes the basics of first-person shooting incredibly well; the touch screen and stylus controls work wonders in terms of accuracy and speed. It’s just a shame that everything else didn’t get as much attention.
70
Destructoid
A fine game. It seems to lack a bit of polish and charm, the game does become a bit repetitive, and there's some flaws in the game design in some areas, but the experience was still fun overall. Moon won't win any awards for its story, either. But the spot-on control, slick interface, and impossibly smooth FPS play on this little portable game system should be commended.
70
GameSpot
Moon is a well-crafted shooter that blasts off but fails to reach orbit.
60
Games Radar
A positive example to other developers, that better things are possible if you merely put in the effort.
60
Modojo
We have mixed feelings with Moon. It's a superb visual achievement with spectacular controls and fun shooting, but we grew tired of the old school "hit this switch to activate this door" gameplay. So long as you go into it expecting a slow-paced first person adventure instead of Doom, you'll enjoy this lunar vacation.
42
GameShark
Unfortunately, inspiration and programming prowess aren't enough and in the end, Moon starts off strong, but quickly turns into a boring and repetitive experience.
40
GamePro
Moon is a decent time killer and is great for anyone looking for an interesting sci-fi adventure for their DS handheld.

Teletext GameCentral
One of the best looking DS games ever made, but the gameplay just dosen't live up to the visuals.
