Idaho Amendment 2 appeared on the November 6, 2007 Idaho ballot. It passed with 63% of the vote: 282,301 votes in favor and 163,408 votes again. The measure was legislatively referred to the ballot by the Idaho state assembly.^[1]

It created a new amendment to Article III of the Idaho Constitution that reads^[2]:

"A marriage between a man and a woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this state."

Three political groups supported the measure, cumulatively spending about $39,000. Opposition to the amendment was mobilized by Idaho Votes No, which spent $106,378.^[3]
