Wild in the Country Festival Cancelled

Wild in the Country Festival Cancelled

Maybe it's the outfits, but Björk as Nostradamus kind of makes sense. When the Icelandic singer cancelled her set at this year's Wild in the Country festival, citing the event's "volatile nature" and organizers' inability "to secure any staging, sound, and lighting," we should have known to expect further repercussions, and here they are: organizers have made the decision to cancel Wild in the Country 2008 entirely.

According to the official statement, "The cancellation is due to lower than expected ticket sales and a key investor withdrawing at the last minute, leaving the event in an unsustainable position."

Wild in the Country was scheduled to take place in Knebworth, England on July 5, which means this announcement comes only a couple days in advance. According to the statement noted above, festival organizers "will make every effort to ensure that ticket purchases will be refunded."
