Due to complications stemming from last week's big server switch-over, these photos did not run last Monday as planned. But hey, here they are now. Enjoy!
The Hold Steady stormed through Brooklyn's McCarren Park Pool on Sunday, June 29 for one of JellyNYC's free Pool Parties, but they weren't the only ones storming. The heavens did their part as well, unloading copious quantities of rain upon concertgoers in between sets by the Stay Positive crew and openers and tourmates the Loved Ones (who got an assist from the Hold Steady's Tad Kubler and Franz Nicolay). Thankfully there were enough moments of sunshine to keep the nearby dodgeball tournament and slip 'n slide rolling, and by the time Craig Finn and co. took the stage, the rain yielded for good and much fist-pumping and crowd-surfing ensued. You'd expect to get wet at a pool party, but not quite like this.
The Hold Steady have plenty more dates in queue, including an appearance at the Pitchfork Music Festival in July. They'll also rock "Late Show With David Letterman" on July 16.
