If Fender guitars were members of the Three Stooges, the Jazzmaster would be Larry, neither as upfront as Moe (the Stratocaster) nor as immediately lovable as Curly (the Telecaster).

Nonetheless, the Jazzmaster has been responsible for some pretty excellent music made by the likes of Tom Verlaine (Television), Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.), and Nels Cline (Wilco), to name just a few. Heck, Mascis even has his own signature model!

In celebration of the Jazzmaster's 50th anniversary, all four of the aforementioned fellows will take to the stage at New York City's Knitting Factory on September 12 (via Brooklyn Vegan). The aptly named Fender 50th Anniversary Jazzmaster Concert will also feature special guests Norton Wisdom and Edison Glass.
