Mount Eerie, the Blow, Mirah, Kimya Dawson on Comp
They say no band is an island (they do?), but Fidalgo Island sure as hell is. The Isle of Fidalgo is home to Anacortes, Washington, which is itself home to Knw-Yr-Own Records. And, well, Knw-Yr-Own is set to release No Band Is an Island, a compilation of familiar favorites from a collaboration-happy crew you've more than likely seen in combination before.
So who features on this symposium of synergy? Oh, you know, just Mount Eerie, Khaela Maricich of the Blow, Calvin Johnson, Mirah, Kimya Dawson, Karl Blau, Graves, D+, and quite a few more folks. Other notable inclusions are Sandman's "Barack Obama (Will Rock Your Mama)", and a track from the ex-Murder City Devils/Pretty Girls Make Graves coterie known as Triumph of Lethargy Skinned Alive to Death. How lovely.
No Band Is an Island arrives August 5 from Knw-Yr-Own.
