On Saturday evening, 300 lucky Will Oldham fans gathered in a field in Jeffersontown, Kentucky for an intimate one-off performance from the Bonnie Prince himself. As concertgoers enjoyed picnics in the grass, Oldham and backing band Thomas A. Minor and the Picket Line treated them to tunes from his latest album Lie Down in the Light as well as old favorites like "Death to Everyone". He also covered Malvina Reynolds' classic "Little Boxes" (aka the song from "Weeds").

Those of us who couldn't make it down to the Bluegrass State over the weekend will have to make do with the forthcoming Bonnie "Prince" Billy live album, Is It the Sea?, due out October 20 in the UK on Domino.

Southerners will have two more chances to catch Oldham live in the coming weeks, as he's scheduled to play two shows with brother Paul's band the Anomoanon in Charlottesville, Virginia on August 9. He'll hit Europe in September and October, with a jaunt to California in between. More photos and tour dates below.
