Jay Reatard Preps Fifth 7" for Matador Series
Here comes #5. All the hot details of the next-to-last installment in Memphis punker Jay Reatard's Matador singles series have been announced, just a week after the last one-- a split with Deerhunter-- made its way to your turntable's lovin' arm. This one's due August 18 in Europe and August 19 in the States, and sports three brand new tracks. On the A-side, there's "Trapped Here", while the B gets a two-fer: "Hiding Hole" and "DOA". And then there's the little matter of the covers. Jay you see above. Here's bassist Stephen Pope:
And finally, drummer Billy Haynes:
Seeing as the last one of these sold out in like no time at all, and the quantities for this one are even scanter-- I'm told the entire continent of Europe gets 125 of these suckers-- you'll want to keep an eye on Matablog for the details of the preorder should you actually like to own one of these things.
Also to note: unless you somehow find one of these bad boys in a store, you're not gonna get to pick just which of these handsome devils will grace the cover of your "Trapped Here" single when you do the Matador preorder. Really, though, can you go wrong?
All these fine fellas have a handful of dates to close out July and usher in August.
