Jay Reatard Matador 7" Comp Due in October
As promised all along, the Jay Reatard/Matador Records/small-batch vinyl love affair currently in progress will soon get a whole heck of a lot more crowded, as the label is set to issue Matador Singles '08 October 7. (October 6 in the UK.)
The collection, as you can imagine, compiles all of the tunes from all six of Jay's 2008 7" series, with the exception of Deerhunter's cover of Jay's "Oh It's Such a Shame" from 7" number four. In its place? Non-7" cut "I'm Watching You". And, even though the details of the forthcoming fifth entry in the series were just revealed, this new tracklist would suggest the sixth one will sport "No Time" and "You Were Sleeping".
Single #5 is heading to a (very) few lucky listeners August 18 in Europe and August 19 in the States. No word yet on when #6 will get out there, but unless you trip over a rabbit's foot into a field of clovers or something, you should probably count on having to wait until the comp comes out to hear its songs. Ain't limited editions fun?
Oh, and remember: This is the second Jay Reatard singles compilation of 2008.
