LCD's Murphy and Mahoney Announce Disco DJ Tour
LCD Soundsystem leader James Murphy will continue to spread the gospel of disco this summer and fall. He and LCD drummer Pat Mahoney are embarking on an international DJ tour under the name Special Disco Version.
The concept of the SDV tour is simple: Murphy and Mahoney mix some of their favorite rare disco jams and remixes with new material. Dancing ensues. There's a mission behind the madness, though: rescuing disco from its bad reputation.
In a press release, Murphy says, "People hear that word disco, and they see bellbottoms and 'That '70s Show.' No, no, no. This is real liberation music for people who know where to go. This is the real deal."
Murphy and Mahoney will start the Special Disco Version party tomorrow (August 7) in San Francisco.
Update: According to SDV's MySpace, their August 10 show in L.A. is canceled. Sadness!
