Mos Def, Lupe, Atmosphere Join SEIU Fest During RNC

Who says Rage Against the Machine have the market cornered on political protest? While the band is playing a show in the Twin Cities at the same time as the Republican National Convention descends on Minneapolis-St. Paul, so are a bunch of other acts. We previously reported that the Service Employees International Union's Take Back Labor Day festival would feature Rage guitarist Tom Morello and Steve Earle, but several more additions to the lineup have been announced.

According to a press release, Take Back Labor Day "will both celebrate workers' achievements and promote a New Vision for the 21st Century that includes: affordable, quality healthcare for everyone; wages that can support families; freedom to join unions without intimidation; retirement security."

Sounds good, as long as no one gets hurt.

In addition to Earle, Morello, and whomever he brings along, the tunes at the festival will come from Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco, Billy Bragg, Atmosphere, and Allison Moorer.

Take Back Labor Day takes place September 1 at St. Paul's Harriet Island Regional Park.
