Cornelius Unveils Sensurround DVD/B-Sides Comp
You can only have so much fun experiencing an album called Sensuous with just one of the five senses. Cornelius knows this, which is probably why he supplemented his 2007 offering with a dazzling multimedia live spectacle, the "Sensuous Synchronized Show". And soon, even folks back home will be able to take in the sights and sounds of Sensuous, thanks to the Sensurround DVD.
The long-promised video companion piece to Sensuous arrives September 9 on Everloving. In addition to a dozen colorful clips set to new 5.1 stereo surround mixes of each of the original Sensuous' dozen tracks, Sensurround also comes bundled with a CD entitled B-Sides. Golly, now what might that contain?
Indeed, B-Sides boasts nine hard-to-find Cornelius-related cuts, including seven found on this past January's digital/vinyl-only Gum EP. Those include remixes by the Books and Prefuse 73, a collaborative track with Ryuichi Sakamoto, and a pair of a cappella Petra Hayden covers of "Music", one in English and one in Japanese.
As for that even-longer-promised covers EP? No new word there. Maybe all the prospective cover-ers took a cue from Ms. Hayden and are learning Japanese right now?
Having toured the world extensively over the past year and then some, Cornelius appears to be taking a break at the moment. Rest up, my good man, and we'll catch ya next time.
