Like a newborn kid sister to Coachella, the inaugural All Points West Music & Arts Festival took its first steps this past weekend at Jersey City, New Jersey's Liberty State Park-- just across the way from Manhattan. Festgoers were treated to alien sculptures and other artsy diversions scattered across the park, a little bit of rain, and yes, quite a collection of excellent bands. The fest closed out with a Jack Johnson-led bill of jam-friendly fare and some heavy precipitation (coincidence??), including sets from Cat Power, Secret Machines, Amadou & Mariam, Rogue Wave, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and ex-Slowdive/Mojave 3 surfer dude Neil Halstead.
