Arctic Monkeys Busy With Side Projects: DJ Mix, Dates
As the drummer for Arctic Monkeys, Matt Helders has crafted his fair share of beats. Once again taking aim at the dance floor, Helders has taken up the task of crafting a mix in the Late Night Tales series.
Helders' entry in the series is clunkily called Late Night Tales: Matt Helders From Arctic Monkeys, and it features his favorite late night tunes from the likes of the Stooges, the Rapture, Mos Def, the Black Keys, Simian Mobile Disco, and MF DOOM alias Viktor Vaughn. The mix also features Helders' cover of Living Joy's "Dreamer", featuring singer Nesreen Shah.
Late Night Tales: Matt Helders From Arctic Monkeys comes out October 13 in the UK via Azuli. There will be a launch party for the mix at Lock Tavern in London's Camden neighborhood on October 19. On that same note, Helders' remix of Roots Manuva's "Again and Again" will appear on the "Again and Again" single, out August 25 on Big Dada.
Fellow Monkey Alex Turner has plenty of dates this summer and fall with his side project the Last Shadow Puppets. The next one is tonight, August 19 in Portsmouth, England.
