They may be only two albums deep into their career, but like legions of post-punkers before them, the Long Blondes have left a lot of their finest material spread over a bunch of singles. The first four of these have been compiled along with extra material to make "Singles", due October 20 in the UK in CD and digital download formats from Angular Recording Corporation.

In addition to the A- and B-sides to those first four singles, "Singles" also includes compilation track "Autonomy Boy" and previously unreleased tune "Peterborough". Those who pick up the collection on iTunes will get an extra little goodie in the form of rare jam "Picture of You".

"Singles"
-- which, amusingly, follows hot on the heels of April's "Couples" full-length-- will be released in the States sometime soon, once a proper distributor is found.

A few of the Blondes recently marked a singles release of a very different kind. The debut 7" from the Bon Bon Club, featuring the Long Blondes' rhythm section (Reenie Hollis and Screech Louder) alongside Slow Down Tallahassee's Claire Hill (aka Chapatti Smith), is out now from the Sheffield Phonographic Corporation. The disc sports bass-and-drums covers of the Cure's "Lullaby", Pulp's "Love Is Blind", and Death From Above 1979's "Romantic Rights".

Those concerned for the well-being of guitarist Dorian Cox in light of recent health issues, take heart: A Long Blondes rep tells us Cox is "doing much better" and "on the road to recovery."
