Cure Tribute Compilations Get Tracklists, Release Dates
A pair of previously reported Cure tribute compilations now have release dates and finalized tracklists: Manimal Vinyl's Perfect as Cats: A Tribute to the Cure and American Laundromat's Just Like Heaven: A Tribute to the Cure.
Manimal will release the two-disc Perfect as Cats tomorrow (October 28). Contrary to our earlier report, Blonde Redhead, CocoRosie, and Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti do not appear on the compilation, but Jesu, Bat for Lashes, the Dandy Warhols, Indian Jewelry, Kaki King, Rio en Medio, Lewis & Clarke, and Bat for Lashes collaborator Christine Weeks are all there, among many others. Proceeds from sales of Perfect as Cats will benefit the Invisible Children charity.
American Laundromat Records' Just Like Heaven, meanwhile, arrives on January 27. The Wedding Present and Dean & Britta join the previously mentioned likes of Grand Duchy (aka Frank Black and Violet Clark), Tanya Donelly, the Rosebuds, the Brunettes, Elk City, and Joy Zipper with Cure covers on the single-disc comp. ALR is offering a secret bonus track to those who pre-order through the label's website, and plans to ship pre-orders in advance of the comp's street date and in time for the holidays.
