Max Richter's Classical Ringtone LP Hits the States

We are, alas, a nation largely devoid of ringtones
Max Richter's Classical Ringtone LP Hits the States

Given all the off-the-wall answers (and resulting embarrassment) Pitchfork's Tyler Grisham gets for his "What's the ringtone on your cell phone?" query in our ongoing "Guest List" feature, you'd think something like Max Richter's 24 Postcards in Full Colour would have come along a long while ago.

The composer's fourth LP is comprised of two dozen "classical ringtones" that ought to raise an awful lot less ire among your fellow humans than, you know, Ben Bridwell's creepy "paint" recording. The set, out now in the UK, hits the States tomorrow (September 23) thanks to FatCat's 130701 imprint.

Richter is reportedly planning some interactive shows in which the audience's phones will do the performing as a result of Richter's own text messages. Make sure to switch over to the family plan before hitting those up.

For now though, there's a pair of non-interactive Richter performances on the way.

Richter:

10-01 London, England - Kings Place
10-18 Krakow, Poland - Unsound Festival *
