Bonnie "Prince" Billy plays benefit for Big Sur Volunteer Fire Brigade
Devendra, Silver Jews, Beach House Play Forest Fest

They're calling it Festival in the Forest, so as you can imagine, it ain't taking place in an abandoned lot downtown. The woodland wonderment, presented by the folks at (((folkYEAH!))), goes down September 26-27 at Big Sur, California's Fernwood Resort, and sports a whole lot of bands who seem like the types to play/live in  sylvan locale.

Leading this towering lineup are the likes of Megapuss-- dick-skirted Devendra Banhart side project-- Silver Jews, Beach House, Tussle, Citay, Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti's Little Joy, Port O'Brien, Entrance, Little Wings, and oh so many more outdoorsy types.

Non-long haired, non-freaky people need not apply.

The Festival in the Forest is a benefit for the Big Sur Volunteer Fire Brigade, who have been having a tough summer. The same weekend as the festival, (((folkYEAH!))) will host another benefit for the Fire Brigade, this one at the Henry Miller Library in Big Sur on Sunday, September 28. It features performances from Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Pegi Young Band, Alela Diane, and Anthony Crawford.
