Death Cab Gig Prize in Voter Registration Competition

Death Cab Gig Prize in Voter Registration Competition

Forget the BCS championship; for civic-minded college students, this fall, the real competition is all about voter registration. MySpace has teamed up with a coalition of non-partisan organizations, including Rock the Vote, HeadCount, Declare Yourself, Student PIRGs, and Why Tuesday?, for the Ultimate College Bowl.

The Ultimate College Bowl is a nationwide competition to see which college can register the most voters by the time the U.S. presidential election rolls around. (That would be November 4.) There are various incentives and prizes involved, including scholarships and video games provided by "Guitar Hero", as well as the kicker: a free Death Cab for Cutie concert at the college that registers the most votes.

Death Cab have been getting their politic on recently, but they'll hit the road again on October 3 for a tour that takes them into late November. They've also added info about their tourmates since our last report, so in addition to Neil Young and Fleet Foxes, their itinerary now includes dates with Frightened Rabbit, Tegan and Sara, and St. Vincent.
