Optimo to Release New Mix Album on Domino
As the long-running DJs-in-residence at Glasgow's storied Optimo (Espacio) club night, the duo of JD Twitch and JG Wilkes-- aka Optimo-- are experts in the art of the mix. Sleepwalk, the twosome's latest mix album, is a heady one indeed. The set skips from Karen Dalton to Duke Ellington to Future Pilot AKA to Ethiopian jazzbo Mulatu Astatke, creating a chilled-out, yet creepy vibe. Sleepwalk is due October 27 in the UK from Domino, with U.S. release details forthcoming.
Twitch-- who recently issued Mmm, Betty!, a re-edit collection from his alter ego Betty Botox-- and Wilkes have a smattering of live dates around the world to attend to through the rest of the year, including a set at the Domino Records 15th anniversary bash in London early next month.
