Arctic Monkeys to Issue Live DVD
Captured by the more than able camera of director of photography Danny Cohen (This Is England), directed by "Mighty Boosh" actor Richard Ayoade, and edited by Heima's Nick Fenton, Arctic Monkeys at the Apollo is a 76-minute concert film documenting an Arctic Monkeys gig in Manchester, England in December of last year.
The Domino Records/Warp Films/Bang Bang Films production is due on DVD November 3 in the UK, though select independent theaters around the UK will hold "one night only" screenings October 14 featuring a special intro from the band. Look for a Stateside release of the DVD next year.
The DVD and upcoming screenings are the next best thing to seeing the Monkeys live, which hasn't been easy to come by these days. Though they may have jetted off to Cali to hang loose with Josh Homme, Monkey business is currently at a two-year low. Frontguy Alex Turner's Last Shadow Puppets, however, will launch a fall tour October 11 in Wolverhampton. Oh, and Matt Helders' Late Night Tales mix is still due October 13 in the UK from Azuli.
