Hot Chip, Go! Team, Ruby Suns on Charity Compilation
BBC host Bruce Parry has rounded up quite the cast of characters for a compilation benefiting Survival International, a human rights organization for tribal peoples.
Amazon / Tribe: Songs for Survival features tracks from the likes of Hot Chip, the Go! Team, the Ruby Suns, will.i.am, Mike Oldfield, Mystery Jets, Way Out West, Yusuf Islam, Razorlight's Johnny Borrell, and a new group called Apparatjik composed of Coldplay's Guy Berryman, Mew's Jonas Bjerre, and a-ha's Magne Furuholmen.
Amazon / Tribe takes its name from Parry's two BBC shows. The first half of the compilation features songs inspired by "Amazon", a new series in which Parry explores the Amazon River. The second half features dance and experimental tunes that sample tribal music Parry recorded during the making of his previous show, "Tribe". Every track on the compilation was recorded exclusively for the project.
Amazon / Tribe: Songs for Survival is already available digitally in the UK, and Kensaltown Records will release it as a two-disc CD on October 6 in the UK.
