Ever wonder what the Rapture like to jam to when they're not kicking out moody, anthemic floor-fillers of their own? To find out, you'll wanna pop in Tapes, a brand new mix crafted by the New York dance-punkers, due out in Europe October 20 and in North America November 25 from !K7.

Not precisely the DJ-Kicks mix hinted at in our last story on the band, the Tapes series is intended to be more "artist orientated and a lot more eclectic" than !K7's Kicks series. That in mind, this far-flung mix hinges on plenty of tracks from the very New York underground from which the band itself emerged, managing to also find room for bangers from the likes of Daft Punk's Thomas Bangalter, folk legend Richie Havens, DFA upstarts Syclops, and the inimitable Ghostface Killah. And here's the cover:



You can get a little listen to the kind of stuff that fills these Tapes next weekend, when the band's Mattie Safer, Vito Roccoforte, and Gabriel Andruzzi take to the 1s and 2s on those previously reported DJ dates. Mattie Safer's got another one coming up October 10 at New York City's Rose Center for Earth and Space at the American Museum of Natural History, where he'll be joined by Ed Banger's DJ Mehdi.
