Vampire Weekend Tour With El Guincho, Do Obama Gig
Cape Cod will meet Palmitos Park when Vampire Weekend and El Guincho team up for a UK and European tour this fall. It's the band everyone ragged on for having nebulous world music influences and an actual world musician. Hey, how about that.
While VW's self-titled disc has been out for most of the year, Guinchie's Alegranza! gets a worldwide release via Young Turks/XL on October 13 (October 21 in the U.S.).
As could be expected and has been reported, both Vampire Weekend and El Guincho have plenty of dates on their own as well. Vampire Weekend's next show is on October 4 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at Carnegie Mellon University. It's a free voter registration drive sponsored by Students for Barack Obama at Carnegie Mellon.
