Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds Curate ATP Australia
Sydney, Australia's Cockatoo Island was at one time a prison and a reformatory for wayward girls. So, in the spirit of the island's rich history of hosting riff-raff of various sorts, it will serve as one of the locations for All Tomorrow's Parties' inaugural ATP Australia festival, taking place January 9-18, 2009. Appropriately enough, raucous Aussie ruffians Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds will both headline and curate the festival.
The Cocaktoo Island portion of ATP Australia takes place January 17-18 in conjunction with the Sydney Festival. The initial lineup includes Spiritualized, Silver Apples, Michael Gira, Fuck Buttons, Afrirampo, Harmonia, and James "Blood" Ulmer alongside native Australians the Saints, former Go-Between Robert Forster, Laughing Clowns, Bridezilla, and the Necks.
ATP Australia will also hit Victoria's Mt. Buller Ski Resort for a two-day affair January 9-10 featuring the same lineup as the Sydney event plus Primitive Calculators, Rowland S. Howard, and the Stabs. Additionally, ATP will put on a series of shows in Brisbane from January 12-16, featuring Fuck Buttons, Afrirampo, Harmonia, and more. There will also be a big show January 15 at the Brisbane River Stage with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Spiritualized, Robert Forster, and James "Blood" Ulmer, and more.
