Lil Wayne's B-Day Party Unsurprisingly Ostentatious
Aww, it's just like "My Super Sweet 16"! With rapper/Martian Lil Wayne having turned 26 late last month, Mr. Carter's daddy cleared out a nightclub Monday (October 6) and threw him a lavish birthday bash featuring ice sculptures, bubbly, and a briefcase full of cheddar, according to Perez Hilton.
Of course, the daddy in question was, in fact, Wayne's spiritual (and thankfully, not lyrical) mentor Bryan "Birdman" Williams. And, of course, no mere description of the evening's events would begin to scratch the surface of the excessive nature of this particular party. Thank goodness there's pictures!
The centerpiece of the bash-- held at the Mansion nightclub in Miami-- was a Cash Money ice sculpture holding 30 bottles of Cristal champagne, while other sculptures around the club contained $100 bills buried in the ice. But the party wasn't complete until Birdman presented Wayne with a Louis Vuitton briefcase filled with a cool million dollars in cash money.
Good to know that silly recession thing has yet to affect our creative class! Seriously, though, I just kinda can't believe Perez got through a whole thing about these two without insinuating something about them.
Wayne-- who, according to Nah Right and as noted in Forkcast, was joined by the Roots on "A Milli" in Miami last night-- will head out on a brief tour a little later this month. Let's just hope the dude turns a profit.
