So, Weezer Not Actually Recording New LP After Tour?

On the day Weezer kicked off their big fall tour, we mentioned a Billboard.com report that quoted drummer Pat Wilson as saying the following: "A week after we get off tour, we're gonna be in the studio with Jacknife (Lee) again."

However, much to the chagrin of eager Weezer fans looking for a quick follow-up to this spring's Red Album, guitarist Brian Bell tells Spinner.com it just ain't happening like that [via NME.com].

"Someone jumped the gun," Bell notes, without directly implicating his bandmate. Bell suggests that the band's current aim is to "focus on promoting The Red Album, and when we have the songs and the time feels right, we'll record." According to the guitarist, Weezer's attitude toward non-Cuomo contributions of late has been a friendly one, and as such, productivity's at an all time high. Even still, says Bell, "it would be kind of silly to put a timeline on a record that we felt wasn't ready."

Besides, when it comes to records, Weezer have plenty as it is. The band is currently gigging around the West Coast, with a few dates this week that see them joined by Brian Bell's own the Relationship.
