Hold Steady, Iron & Wine, Stars on WFUV Live Comp
Every so often, the folks from Fordham University's non-commercial, listener-supported WFUV ring up their favorite bands and invite 'em into the studio for an on-air session. Somewhat less often, WFUV files through the recent offerings and compiles the best ones onto a nifty CD.
The 11th installment in that series-- FUV Live Volume 11, wouldn't you know it-- arrives October 21, and it's a well-curated batch indeed. The Hold Steady, Iron & Wine, Stars, the Black Keys, Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings, Regina Spektor, Nada Surf, Aimee Mann, Gary Louris of the Jayhawks, Sia, Sinead O'Connor, and many others turn in live takes on some of their finest tunes.
The disc can be yours through the WFUV website, and its release coincides with the station's fall membership drive, which begins officially tomorrow (October 16).
