D.C. Indie Supergroup Julie Ocean Disband

There's always Billy Ocean, I suppose

Julie Ocean, we hardly knew thee. The Washington, D.C. based power poppers-- comprised of former members of Velocity Girl, Glo-Worm, Swiz, Weatherhead, the High Back Chairs, and Severin-- have announced their dissolution just a few months after the release of their debut LP, Long Gone and Nearly There.

The reason for the split, according to a writeup on The Washington Post's Going Out Gurus blog, is the relocation of CNN producer/correspondent and taser guy Jim Spellman from the District to Denver. The band played its final show in August at Fort Reno in D.C.
