Animal Collective Unveil Trippy Merriweather Cover
Whoa dude. WHOA DUDE. Whoa. Dude.
Here we have the cover art for Merriweather Post Pavilion, the forthcoming LP from the lads of Animal Collective, due January 20 in the U.S. and January 12 in the UK from Domino. As you can see, it kinda moves when you look at it. And, at the same time... it's not moving at all. Dude. Whoa.
If your eye managed to make its way this far down on the page, there's some exciting news coming from Paw Tracks, the label co-owned by the AC gang. Come December 9, they'll issue the first installment in a brand new limited edition singles series they're calling "Care Kacky's 45s".
The inaugural Kacky's offering is split between Reverend Green, alter ego of Brad Truax of Home and Jah Division, and Drawlings, the new solo project of Abby Portner of Rings. The Reverend Green tune has a holiday theme and finds Truax joined by Antony Hegarty and Kría Brekkan, late of Múm. It was recorded and produced by Truax and his Jah Division bandmate Barry London. As for the Drawlings tune, it's Ms. Portner's first solo offering, and was recorded with the help of her brother Dave "Avey Tare" Portner and Rusty Santos. The double A-side 7" is limited to 1,000 copies.
And, while we're on the Paw Tracks tip, note that the label just released a new 12" EP from Black Dice's Eric Copeland. Entitled Alien in a Garbage Dump, the limited edition offering is intended as a taste of Eric's upcoming album-- and, what do you know, you can check out the EP's title track in Forkcast right now.
