The Hold Steady Kick Off Tour With Drive-By Truckers
Art by Wes Freed
The Hold Steady and Drive-By Truckers are about to redeem their chosen genre's decades-old bad reputation with the kickoff of their joint "Rock and Roll Means Well" tour. The first stop on the mission of do-goodery is tonight (October 30) in Louisville, Kentucky. The two bands will alternate opening and closing duties on the whole tour. And don't worry, Tad Kubler is back in action after recovering from pancreatitis.
The Hold Steady resume headlining shows (and opening a few for Counting Crows) in December, and contribute a cover of Bruce Springsteen's "Atlantic City" to the Heroes charity comp, out November 25. They also have a track on the recently released WFUV compilation.
Finally, as a prelude to the "Rock and Roll Means Well" tour, lead Trucker Patterson Hood posted a list of his "Top Five Favorite the Hold Steady Songs (and why)" on the DBT website. Check it out!
