Johann Johannsson to Issue Henry Ford-Inspired LP
If The Empire Strikes Back has taught us anything-- and I like to think my aversion to carbonite chambers is evidence that it has-- it's that the second installment in a technology-heavy trilogy is generally the one to beat.
Jóhann Jóhannsson's Fordlândia, due November 4 in North America and November 3 elsewhere from 4AD, is the second in the Icelandic composer's planned trilogy based on both technology and iconic American brand names (Fordlândia being Henry Ford's doomed project in Brazil). IBM 1401 - A User's Manual from 2006 was the first, and Jóhannsson will likely spend the next little while rounding up Ewoks and jars of that iconic American brand Miracle Whip for the third.
Or not; dude's probably cobbling together a crew for his lone upcoming gig, November 14 at Copenhagen, Denmark's CPH:DOX documentary film festival.
