Throbbing Gristle Reactivate Label With Fancy LP

What's Halloween without the most frightening band of them all (sorry, Slipknot), Throbbing Gristle? The proto-industrial iconoclasts have reemerged to freak you right out of your Sarah Palin mask-- and scare a sizable wad of cash out of your wallet with the release of a super fancy limited edition piece of vinyl.

The Thirty-Second Annual Report captures Throbbing Gristle's concert-- excuse me, "live demonstration"-- from June 6 of this year at La Villette in Paris. The TG gang used the occasion to reinterpret their very first record, The Second Annual Report, which turned 30 in 2007 (hence, the title). Not just any ol' slab o'wax, this 12" 180 gram vinyl LP comes in its very own frame with minimalist artwork, and is limited to a mere 777 copies. Folks who snap these up will also get a special CD that includes extra tracks not found on the vinyl, as well as a photo-packed .PDF booklet and access to digital downloads of the music. Images of all this fanciness can be found here.

For those who can't quite drum up £120 from under the couch cushions, Throbbing Gristle feel ya. That's why they're also making The Thirty-Second Annual Report available for regular digital purchase (for just £7.77), minus all the artsy packaging and such.

Thirty-Second is set to arrive November 4. According to the Throbbing Gristle website, the release marks "the official re-activation" of the band's pioneering imprint Industrial Records, which sounds plenty cool to us.

In other news, TG spinoff Psychic TV/PTV3 just issued a new album of radio sessions entitled Mr. Alien Brain vs. the Skinwalkers via Cargo Records/Sweet Nothing. The initial pressing comes with a bonus DVD, and a limited run LP edition with a few bonus tracks is due in mid-November from Dais Records. PTV3 will consummate the new release with a few live demonstrations scattered over the coming weeks.
