My Brightest Diamond Releases Series of Remix EPs
Just as she allowed folks to play with 2006's Bring Me the Workhorse on the remix LP Tear It Down, Shara Worden (aka My Brightest Diamond) has offered up her sophomore set, A Thousand Shark's Teeth, to various knob-twiddlers for a series of remix EPs. To give this remix project a more singular focus, each of the four EPs will feature a different single remixer, starting with one by Alfred Brown and eventually including entries from DM Stith, Son Lux, and Roberto Carlos Lange (Epstein, Savath and Savalas).
Asthmatic Kitty has already digitally released Brown's entry, Shark Remixes, Vol. 1, and all four volumes will see a physical release next year.
Worden is currently on the road with the "string trio formation" of My Brightest Diamond. She has dubbed this jaunt the "MBD Recession Blues" tour, and the current economic climate has inspired her to offer free tickets to each show via a contest on her website.
Here's how the contest works: Each day there is a My Brightest Diamond show, Worden will post a Twitter on the front page of the MBD website at noon, containing a quiz question. The first two people to respond to word@mybrightestdiamond.com with the correct answer will win a free ticket (and a plus one) for the show that night.
So far, quiz questions have included, "What are the names of three band members of A-ha?", "What musical instrument did Benjamin Franklin invent?", and "Which Ravel opera has the lyrics 'Black & Costaud'?"
