Okkervil's Sheff, Wrens' Bissell Cover Each Other on 7"
If sharing is, in fact, caring, Will Sheff and Charles Bissell care an awful lot about each other. Bissell, recent touring guitarist for Sheff's Okkervil River and founding member of Jersey giants the Wrens, will share a 7" that sees them taking on tunes from each others' main projects. Sheff does "Ex-Girl Collection" from the Wrens' fantastic 2003 Meadowlands LP, while Bissell tackles "It Ends With a Fall" from Okkervil's 2003 effort Down the River of Golden Dreams. This 7" has been in the works for more than two years ago, but it will finally be released by Jagjaguwar this winter. Starting December 9, it will be available at select retail, mailorder, and at shows, with a wide release slated for January.
You can pick up the 7" when Sheff embarks on a brief bi-coastal solo tour in December that will find him joined on its first stop by none other than Mr. Charles Bissell. In addition to the shows, Sheff will hit San Francisco's Herbst Theatre December 17 for "Talking Music: Conversation With Will Sheff", as part of the previously reported City Arts & Lectures "Talking Music" series. Before all that, though, Okkervil River have a European tour already in progress.
Would that there were news of a new Wrens album to share.
