Bruce Springsteen and the NFL: BFFs! In late September, it was announced that the Boss and the E Street Band will provide the entertainment for the halftime show during Super Bowl XLIII, taking place February 1, 2009 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. And today, Billboard.com reports that the NFL has scored the premiere of a brand new Springsteen song, "Workin' on a Dream", which will soundtrack a highlight segment during halftime of the Cowboys/Redskins (ooh, colonialism!) game this coming Sunday, November 16. It will air on NBC's Sunday Night Football, and thereafter will echo in the hearts of patriots throughout this great nation of ours.

"Workin on a Dream" was first heard by attendees of an Obama rally in Cleveland the weekend before the election. Billboard.com reports that the song will be included on a new Springsteen album, which will come out on Columbia in January, just in time for Obama's inaguration. (Because, as we all know, Springsteen is the real reason he won.) Nothing has been confirmed yet; so far, the only place that seems to have any information about this alleged new album is the usually reliable Springsteen fan site Backstreets.com.
