OMG: Marnie Stern Kissing Booth!
Pitchfork assumes no responsibility for all the creeps and weirdos this will invariably draw out of the woodwork, but here it is anyway: Marnie Stern, as fun to listen to as she is easy on the "male gaze" (to borrow a term from feminist film theory), has announced her intentions to host a kissing booth of sorts at a pair of weekend shows.
If this is the sort of thing that excites you, better get to the ATM quicklike. The smoochery goes down at gigs tonight (November 14) in San Francisco and tomorrow night in Los Angeles, and the breakdown looks something like this: $3 for a peck on the cheek, $10 for a bit of lip, and $100 for, oh my, some tongue. No word where those dollars are going, but as the press release quips, "It's all in good fun."
Wisely, the sorceress of shred has put forth a little disclaimer of her own: "Marnie reserves the right to refuse anyone a kiss subject to poor physical and mental hygiene, general dementia, and overall grossness." Nevermind that the sort of people who pay for physical affection probably suffer from poor mental hygiene by default-- all in good fun, right?
Marnie's fall tour continues through early December, and her fab new album with the ridiculous title is out now.
