Santogold Joins Kanye/Lykke Li N.A.S.A. Track
Just when you thought that N.A.S.A. album couldn't get any nuttier, along comes this very Y2K8 pairing: Kanye West and Lykke Li, who we knew were cooking up a little something for the disc, will be joined by one Santogold for a track called "Gifted" on Sam "Squeak E. Clean" Spiegel and Ze "DJ Zegon" Gonzales' forthcoming The Spirit of Apollo.
To recap, Spiegel and Gonzales are N.A.S.A., and The Spirit of Apollo is their first record, due February 17 from Anti-. It has a few guests on it, such as Tom Waits, David Byrne, M.I.A., Karen O, Chuck D, Ghostface Killah, the RZA, Method Man, the late Ol' Dirty Bastard, KRS-One, Kool Keith, E-40, John Frusciante, George Clinton, Del the Funky Homosapien, the Cool Kids, Seu Jorge, Gift of Gab, Lovefoxxx of CSS, your mom, and, hell, probably my mom too.
Check the final tracklist below, and keep your eyes peeled for the first N.A.S.A. video-- a clip for "Money" put together by artist Shepard Fairey-- coming soon to some kind of screen near you. Fairey's video will be the first of several N.A.S.A. pieces put together by a host of art world heavies, including Marcel Dzama, Sage Vaughn, and more. These artists' work will also be incorporated into the N.A.S.A. album package design; check out a sampling of Fairey's and Dzama's offerings below.
And because this project clearly wasn't ambitious enough already, there's also a N.A.S.A. documentary in the works, which will feature interviews with the participating artists and some recording session antics. Don't worry, as far as we know those antics don't include any O.D.B. seances.
N.A.S.A. have one date scheduled right now, a November 29 appearance at the Nokia Trends festival in São Paulo, Brazil.
