Tweedy, Breeders Back for 2008 Second City Benefit

Jeff Tweedy must love him some improv comedy (or some Windy City, or some helping children, or somethin'), because the Wilco workhorse is back once again to head up the lineup for the 2008 edition of Chicago hilarity mecca the Second City's "The Second City That Never Sleeps: Letters to Santa" marathon benefit show.

As in previous years, makers of music and funnies alike will converge on Second City's stages with the two-pronged goal of raising money for holiday gifts for kids, and prompting you to LOL until you're ROFL and, hopefully, LMFAO. Well, laughing your ass off, not mine.

Tweedy joins fellow oh-seven alums Kim and Kelly Deal, who this year bring their Breeders to partake in the festivities. Other musical performers include Nina Nastasia, Robbie Fulks, the Lonesome Organist, and Tim Midgett of Silkworm/Bottomless Pit fame, while Tweedy's kid Spencer will play with his band Tullymonster (formerly the Blisters-- though it appears they're due for yet another name change soon).

Like any good marathon show, this one runs for 24 straight hours, beginning at 9 p.m. on December 9 and wrapping up the same time the next day. Plenty of Second City's funniest will be on hand to single you out should you nod off, as will Upright Citizens Brigade offshoot ASSSSCAT. Really though, who could sleep through something called ASSSSCAT?
