Pitchfork Seeks Interns in Brooklyn, NY Office
Pitchfork is looking for a variety of awesome people to come spend their winter months being interns in our Brooklyn, NY office. Our ideal candidates will be available 10-15 hours a week (minimum), based in the New York area, and willing to work for experience or school credit. To be more specific, here are the types of people we're looking for:
1: ASSISTANT EDITORS
If you are a fast, efficient video editor and/or film major with Final Cut experience (After Effects doesn't hurt either), available two days a week during business hours, either for school credit or just because you're bored, you should apply for our highly unpaid opening as an assistant editor. The position involves providing creative and archival assistance to our editors in the post-production and cataloging of Pitchfork.tv's performance and interview series, music videos, bumper content, etc. To apply, please send your resume and a link to your demo reel (no attachments please!) to jobs@pitchforkmedia.com. Your subject header should read "Assistant Editor Internship." Submission deadline is Thursday, December 11 at 11:59 p.m. eastern.
2: CAMERA/PRODUCTION ASSISTANTS
Pitchfork.tv is seeking New York-based interns with experience in shooting and cinematography. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in various SD and HD cameras, with lighting, mic placement, and live shooting experience a plus. Duties include (but are not limited to): prepping gear for shoots, white balancing, syncing, coordinating mic/line inputs, and monitoring audio recordings, as well as some actual shooting. This position exists predominantly in the field and will largely occur on evenings and weekends. Because many of our shoots take place at music venues, candidates under 21 cannot be considered. To apply, please send your cover letter, resume, and samples of your work (links only, no attachments please!) to jobs@pitchforkmedia.com with "Production Assistant Internship" in the subject header. Submission deadline is Thursday, December 11 at 11:59 p.m. eastern.
3: GRAPHICS ASSISTANT
Pitchfork is seeking a graphics assistant in our Brooklyn, NY office. The ideal candidate must be available 10-15 hours a week, a pro at Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash, and have work samples that kick our ass. Motion Graphics, After Effects, and/or Final Cut experience is a major plus, but not mandatory. Qualified applicants must submit links to samples of their work (no attachments please!), along with a resume and cover letter, to jobs@pitchforkmedia.com by Friday, February 15 at 6:00 p.m. EST. Please include "Graphics Assistant Internship" in your subject header. Submission deadline is Thursday, December 11 at 11:59 p.m. eastern.
4: ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS
Pitchfork is seeking administrative assistants in our Brooklyn, NY office. The ideal candidate will have prior office experience and familiarity with business applications (you know, like Microsoft Office). A good presence on the phone and strong writing skills are mandatory. Tasks include, but are not limited to, coordinating schedules and assisting all departments with daily operations as needed. To apply, please submit a resume and cover letter to jobs@pitchforkmedia.com, with "Administrative Assistant Internship" in the subject header. Submission deadline is Thursday, December 11 at 11:59 p.m. eastern.
