Lil Wayne Documentary to Premiere at Sundance

The mind reels at the thought of a day in the life of one Dwayne Carter, Jr., the man known to millis as Lil Wayne. It's easy to picture a wake and bake, some time saying increasingly ridiculous things into a microphone, coitus, and maybe a little light blogging, but really, can anyone say for sure what's really going on behind the scenes in Wayne's world?

Well, director Adam Bhala Lough, for one. Lough-- who helmed The Upsetter, about Lee "Scratch" Perry-- recently trained his lens on Wayne, frequent cohort Bryan "Baby/Birdman" Williams, and Wayne's manager Cortez Bryant and emerged with The Carter, a documentary film that promises, according to a Sundance Film Festival announcement, "an in-depth look at the artist... proclaimed by many as the 'greatest rapper alive.'"

The flick, set to premiere at the Park City, Utah fest when it goes down January 15-25 of next year, is apparently packed with "comprehensive and personal interviews with Lil Wayne," according to IMDb. It "will also feature insight from those that know him best." His weedman, then?

There's been a trailer for the thing going around for a little while now. Have a look:

"I wrote my first rap at eight, talking about fuckin', smokin', shootin' guns. Same shit. All that crazy shit that everybody love." Everybody in the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, anyway; Wayne, as you'll recall, racked up more Grammy nominations than anybody else this year in a ceremony earlier this week. He'll take it to the people next weekend when he kicks off his winter tour.
