Well, he's certainly got the voice for it. According to The Guardian [via NME.com], Jarvis Cocker, the droll yet dapper ex-Pulp frontman turned solo star, will serve as guest editor of BBC Radio 4's "Today" program at some point during the last week of this year.

He follows in a long tradition of seating special guests behind the mic over the holidays: Thom Yorke, Yoko Ono, and Damon Albarn have all donned the cans in years past. This time though, it's Jarvis' turn, and naturally he's already got a few hot topics to stimulate conversation. He'll reportedly focus on the ongoing credit crisis, as well as asking whether the UK gets "bland politicians because we are too censorious about what they do in their private lives." Well, sure, compared to you, Jarvy, we all seem a little vanilla.

Jarvis and that thing attached to his chin recently wrapped a quick little tour, which leaves him plenty of time to practice his morning rush hour banter and prepare a couple enticing projects he's got coming down the pipe. There's a new solo LP, of course, and the score to the film adaptation of Fantastic Mr. Fox. All that, plus another chance at those ZZ Top tickets and your drive-time forecast, right after this.
