Mountain Goats, King Khan Rally for Goner Records' Kid's Benefit

Anna Ives has spent half her life undergoing treatment for cancer. Ives is the four-year-old daughter of Zac Ives, the owner of the Memphis record store and label Goner Records. (They're released records by the likes of Jay Reatard, King Khan & BBQ Show, and Quintron.) Her ongoing treatment has forced the entire Ives family to temporarily move to Boston, and most of us probably don't want to imagine the sort of emotional and financial strain it's put on them. Right now, tons of people in Memphis are rallying around the Ives family and raising money for them, and musicians from Memphis and beyond are chipping in.

Tonight, January 29, local Goner Records acts Jack Oblivian, Harlan T. Bobo, and John Paul Keith will play a benefit show for Anna at Memphis's Hi-Tone Cafe . And Ives' friends are also staging an online auction, putting all sorts of stuff up for sale. The Mountain Goats' John Darnielle has put one pretty great item up for bidding: A guest-list spot for his entire upcoming solo acoustic tour with John Vanderslice. As in: You win the auction and you're on the list (with a plus one) for every single show of the tour, plus you get to go to one soundcheck. Also up for bidding: four all-access passes for King Khan's March 14 show at the Hi-Tone, plus free drinks for the night, and tickets to the Ponderosa Stomp. You can also bid on rare records from Jay Reatard, Black Lips, Mika Miko, and more.

These prizes are no joke, but we're talking about a little kid with cancer here, so really any of the stuff up for auction is worth your money. You can read about Anna's story here.
